Karen McIntyre, LMFT and about her work as a therapist
Karen McIntyre is a trauma therapy professional. She helps individuals and couples rediscover their true selves, overcoming the harm caused by life’s difficulties and brokenness. Incorporating EMDR therapy as well as other powerful tools, together we will uncover and eradicate the lies that have been causing depression, anxiety, addictions, and relational and physical issues. Clients discover their true selves as loved and highly valued children of God. She empowers them to reclaim their zest, power, and freedom to find and fulfill their destiny.
EMDR therapy is a comprehensive and integrative psychotherapy approach developed in 1987 by Dr. Francine Shapiro. EMDR has been a gold standard treatment for veterans, PTSD survivors, rape and abuse victims, and anyone who has had traumatic events, large or small, that are still affecting them today.
Professionals like myself commonly use it to treat drug and alcohol abuse, anxiety and panic attacks, depression, and low self-esteem. EMDR can be effective in desensitizing triggers that cause irrational responses and fears that lead to relationship difficulties. In addition, EMDR is used to build a person’s skill-building and sense of competency and capability.
Karen uses classic EMDR procedures, which she was trained in by the EMDR Institute, to desensitize and reprocess past events that cause unhealthy thinking. She is certified by the EMDR International Association since December 1, 2011. Karen was diagnosed with Retinitis Pigmentosa in 1978, and vision loss continued until she lost all her sight ten years ago. She understands the challenges of processing loss, going through the grieving cycle, and coming out of it with joy and fulfillment, knowing she lives a blessed life and has a thriving business. What have you been through? You can get to a place of joy and peace and the ability to process the trials in your life.
As a therapist, she integrates the spiritual aspect of believing in God or your higher power to enhance emotional healing. This approach allows her to provide a holistic therapeutic experience, addressing both the mind and spirit. By incorporating a belief in a higher power, she can help clients tap into a deeper source of strength and guidance, which can accelerate the healing process and lead to profound personal transformation. This spiritual dimension supports clients in finding inner peace and resilience, fostering a more comprehensive and lasting recovery.
And as we know, it all starts with a belief or thought. Our thoughts become our words, our words become our behavior, our behaviors become a habit, a habit becomes our character, and our character determines our destiny!
